What do you mean? You think he didn't like studying and only did it because of Chi Chi? In his first appearance (for which Chi Chi isn't present) he happily states that he wants to be a scholar and he seems happy as a scholar as an adult. It's always implied in the series and in the movies that he likes to study. |

You can suffocate your children by not giving them enough freedom to do what they want. It didn't seem like Chi-Chi wanted to give Gohan any time to play or be with his father (aside from one trip to Master Roshi). Let me make one thing clear though, I don't think Chi-Chi is a bad mother. Every mother makes mistake, even with their second or third (and so on) child. I think she did the best she could under the circumstances (people always wanting to kill her husband and threaten Earth). The same goes from Goku, although more blame should be put on him for putting fighting ahead of his family. He still cared for Chi-Chi and his boys by trying to make them fulfill their dreams. Gohan got an education because he didn't force him to fight like himself, Gohan only jumped into fights when he wanted to. |

No, and I'm baffled anyone would say otherwise. She raised Gohan and especially Goten almost single-handedly to be good, well-mannered men. Certainly a step above Vegeta and Bulma's (who get a lot of undeserved praise as parents IMO) dirty-ass kids. |
